That causes me to be slightly uninformed on the history inside the book. And despite her devotion to the greater good as Ard Rhys–the High Druid of Paranor, Grianne still has bitter enemies.
See all reviews. If sex bothers you more than violence, then his books are appropriate for all ages. A lot of references to the voyage of the Jerle Shannara are made and characters prominent in that trilogy show up in this, although Terry gets rid of two of them after they have shown promise of taking over this trilogy. If your looking for a book to kill some time this summer, pickup this copy ASAP!
He is the author of more than thirty books, most of which have been New York Times bestsellers. Fulfilling the destiny predicted for her, tuus has established the Third Druid Council and dedicated herself to its goals of peace, harmony among tuus races, and defense of the Four Lands.
Guus everything is not as glorious as it seems. There were some imaginative bits in the book, which is the only reason I’m giving it three stars. Book One of High Druid of Shannara invites both the faithful longtime reader and the curious newcomer to take the first step on the next extraordinary quest.
The only one that can save her is her nephew, Penderrin Ohmsford, who ironically has no tangible powers in terms of magic. I think most of the recurring characters just a guess at which they were were reintroduced sufficiently but I will not be continuing with this series until I go back to the beginning. Among the highest ranks of the Council she leads lurk those who cannot forget her reign of terror as the Ilse Witch, who covet her seat of power, and who will stop at nothing to ruks her deposed.
For being the first in a trilogy, Jarka Ruus still has an ending and answers many questions to the mysteries that were brought up in the beginning; Brooks knows where he is taking the story. Whilst this story stands alone, not overly referencing previous sets, the rich history of the series is maintained. Relentlessly pursued by Terek Molt, another rebellious Druid on the Council and Aphasia Wye, a deadly assassin, Tagwen seeks help from the only people he can think of – Pen Ohmsford, Grianne’s resourceful, young nephew and Ahren Ellesdil, a self-exiled elf Druid and master of no small amount of magic himself!
Now, barely a step ahead of ruks dark forces bent on stopping him, Tagwen joins Grianne’s brave young nephew, Pen Ohmsford, and the wise, powerful elf Ahren Elessedil on a desperate and dangerous mission of search and rescue–to deliver the High Druid of Shannara from an unspeakable fate. With The High Druid of ShannaraBrooks has once again burst onto the fantasy scene and uarka himself as a master of the genre!

Hopefully it will go up from here, and not the other way round. Expect no end of wonders, no shortage of adventure, exhilaration, suspense, and enchantment, as Terry Brooks demonstrates, once again, that there is no end to his magic of invention and mastery of storytelling. A minor aggravation in the overall scheme of things, I expect, because I’ve already pick up the next part – Tanequil – and started to eagerly read on! Not to mention there’s a lot of repetition, and the main character falls in love with another character immediately.
